Winter Weather Policy: If the Leavenworth USD #453 cancels school in the morning due to inclement weather, the Carnegie Arts Center will be closed as well, and classes/lessons will be rescheduled if possible. If the Leavenworth USD #453 closes in the afternoon due to inclement weather, please contact the Carnegie Arts Center - 913.651.0765. Reports of school closings will be broadcast on local TV and radio stations. Private Music Lesson Policies: Payment - Tuition for private lessons is paid by the month, not by the lesson. Tuition should be paid at the beginning of each month prior to the start of the first lesson. Private Lesson Tuition for one year:
Attendance - It is the student's responsibility to arrive to their lesson on time. Students who arrive late to their music lessons will be given instruction until their regualr ending time. Please notify the Carnegie Arts Center if you are running late. The office staff will notify the instructors. Missed Lessons - Please notify the Carnegie Arts Center and the instructor of absences as soon as you know they will occur. Two or more unreported absences may result in the student being dropped from the music lesson schedule. The Carnegie Arts Center no longer offers make-up lessons. Dropping Lessons - Please give the office staff and the private lesson instructor at lease 30 days notice before dropping lessons. Individuals who do not give 30 days notice will be charged for an additional month's tuition. Recitals - The Carnegie Arts Center hosts two student recitals each year, one in the spring and one in December. Students participating in the Carnegie Arts Center student recitals are required to pay a recital fee per recital. The recital fees go toward tuning and maintaining the 1906 Steinway Grand piano, printing recital programs, preparing for the recital, and the refreshments provided for the reception that follows the recital. Recital fees should be paid prior to the recital date. Fees are as follows:
Class Policies: Enrollment - All classes have a minimum enrollment set by the staff with input from the instructor. If a class does not meet the minimum it may be cancelled or recheduled to begin at a later date once it has filled. Student Placement - Some teachers may have age, grade level, and/or skill level prerequisites for their classes. Students are encouraged to build strong foundations in beginning level courses before being introduced to more advanced information or techniques. Payment - Class tuitions should be paid in full, or a payment plan agreed upon, before a student may participate in the class. If the instuctor has to cancel a day of class they will schedule a make-up day. Refunds: Refunds cannot be made after a class has begun. Refunds will be made if a class is cancelled due to low enrollment or if the student has given notice at least 10 days prior to the start of the class. If the class is cancelled, the tuition may be refunded or credited to the student's account for future use. Refunds will not be made for private lesson absences or partial lessons due to the student being late. Tuition Assistance and Financial Aid: The Carnegie Arts Center has a small endowment created to be used for scholarships exclusively. A limited number of financial assistance awards are available on a "needs" basis. An application form is available at the front desk, and must be completed and filed with the Executive Director for consideration. The application process is on-going and scholarships are awarded conditional upon the availability of the funds. Studio Use: The pottery, lithography, dance, and music studios are available to members of the Carnegie Arts Center who meet the experience, training, and maintenance requirements of the studios. Anyone using the Carnegie Arts Center studios must agree to the studio rules. Studios are only available during normal office hours and when the studios are not being used by/for a class. Studio fees are due at the beginning of each month. Conflicts: Student/teacher or parent/teacher conflicts should be resolved as amicably and equitably as possible. However, resolved or unresolved conflicts of schedules or of a personal or financial nature should be quickly brought to the attention of the Carnegie staff. Students and parents are encouraged to bring all questions or concerns to the attention of the staff. Student/staff or parent/staff conflicts should be brought to the attention of the Executive Director. |
