CLASS ENROLLMENT AND TUITION POLICIES
Students may register in person or phone by calling the Carnegie at 913-651-0765. The student is responsible, at the time of enrollment, for all enrollment forms and tuition payments. Any payment plans or financial aid applications will be set up at least two weeks prior to the start of any class. Any payment plan payments will be made in the first week of the month in which they are due.

All students are required to sign in and out of the building on the sign-in sheet located at the reception desk.

Class Enrollment All classes have a minimum enrollment set by the staff with input from the instructor. If the class does not fill, it may be cancelled or rescheduled to begin once it is filled. Teachers may also have age, grade, and/or skill prerequisits. Student placement is recommended to best serve the student's learning needs. Students are encouraged to build strong foundations before being introduced to advanced information and techniques.

A student's placement level at the teacher's discretion may be based on one or several of the following factors: age, school grade level, preexisisting acquired or developed skill levels, student maturity, aatention span, social skills for class participation, and, in some cases, a level of physical strength (e.g., wheel throwing pottery requires physical strength). Office staff will enroll students based on general guidelines provided by teachers. If the teacher discovers that the student should be in a more basic or more advanced class, the teacher will advise the student and parent (in private consultation with a senior staff member present) of any adjustments to be made

Missed Class The Carnegie may call a student's home to confirm an upcoming class start date and time; this is a courtesy call. Ultimately, the student is responsible for remembering class dates and times. If the student misses a day of class, it cannot be made up. If an instructor misses a class, or the Carnegie must cancel, there will be a make-up

Refunds Refunds cannot be made after a class has begun. Refunds will be made is a class is cancelled due to lack of enrollment or if the student has given notice at least 10 days before the first day of class. If a class is cancelled, the tuition may be refunded or left on the student's account for future use.

Studio Use The pottery, lithography, dance, and music studios are available to members who meet the experience, training, and maintanance requirements of the studios; members must also agree to the studio rules. The studios are available only during normal office hours and when not ini use by a class or for class work. Studio use fees are due at the beginning of the month.

Winter Weather Policy When the Leavenworth USD #453 cancels school in the morning due to inclement weather, the Carnegie Arts Center will be closed as well, and classes/lessons will be rescheduled if possible.  When the Leavenworth USD #453 closes in the afternoon due to inclement weather please contact the Carnegie Arts Center at 913-651-0765.  Reports of school closings will be broadcast on the local TV and radio stations. In addition, we will try to post any closings on our website as early as possible

Conflicts Student/teacher or parent/teacher conflicts should be resolved as amicab;y and equitably as possible. however, resolved or unresolved, conflicts of schedules or of personal or financial nature should be quickly brough to the attention of the Carnegie staff. Students and parents are encouraged to bring all questions or concerns to the attention of the staff

Accidents Any accident or incident resulting in an injury or distress must be reported to the office where the staff can complete a short, simple "Accident/Incident Report" which is kept on file in the office. A determination is made in the office as to action to be taken (call parent, first-aid, etc.)

Parents in the Classroom Students who attend classes at the Carnegie receive instruction from highly qualified teachers. Our instructors work hard to give your children a proper environment in which to learn, create, and express themselves. Parents may schedule a 10 minute observation session through the office. We request that you refrain from conversations with other parents or on cell phones while in the classroom. Instructors need students to focus on the lessons that are being given and visitors may cause a disruption. If you wish to remain in the building, there is a reception room on the main level for your convenience.
