Private Music Lesson Policies
| PRIVATE LESSON INFORMATION | The Carnegie offers private music lessons in Guitar, Piano, Violin & Viola, and Voice.
Although lessons are available for any age student, we strongly reccomend that children be at least 5 years old. Students younger than 5 and their parents should plan to meet with the instructor prior to enrolling. Some teachers expect parents to attend lessons with their child, and all questions regarding lesson details can be asked during the initial meeting. Tuition for lessons is paid by the month, not the lesson, and should be paid prior to the first lesson of each month

| Payment | Tuition for private lessons is charged by the year and paid by the month. Tuition should be paid at the beginning of each month prior to the start of the first lesson of that month
| Attendance | It is the student’s responsibility to arrive for their lesson on time. Students who arrive late to their music lessons will be given instruction until their regular ending time. Please notify the Carnegie Arts Center if you are running late
| Missed Lessons | Please notify the Carnegie Arts Center and your instructor of absences as soon as you know they will occur. Two or more unreported absences may result in the student being dropped from the music lesson schedule
It is the Carnegie's policy to not offer make-up lessons for lessons missed by the student. As the majority of our faculty are professional musicians, sometimes concerts, recitals or other engagements may conflict with student lessons; make-up lessons for these circumstances will be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon time with the student, teacher, and the Carnegie, or a refund of tuition will be offered.
| Dropping Lessons | Please give the office staff and the private lesson instructor at least 30 days notice before stopping lessons. Students who do not give 30 days notice will be charged for an additional month’s tuition

| Recitals | The Carnegie Arts Center hosts two student recitals each year, one in the spring and one in December. Students who participate are required to pay a fee per recital. The recital fees go toward tuning and maintaining the 1906 Steinway Grand piano, printing recital programs and the refreshments provided for the reception that follows the recitals. Recital fees should be paid prior to the recital date
