1906 Steinway Piano

The piano in the Main Reception room is a 1906 Steinway. It was given by Adolphe Lange, a Leavenworth pharmacist, to his bride as a wedding gift. Nina Barker Lange played and taught lessons on the piano until her death at which time her daughters gave the piano to Cushing Hospital to be used in their Pavilion for the Elderly. The piano was given to the Arts Center in 1989 on long-term loan. It was fully restored by Greg Hume in Kansas City and is now considered to be an excellent concert quality piano. Dr. Judy Tharp of Leavenworth is the granddaughter of Nina Lange.
